“The CDIOTM INITIATIVE is an innovative educational framework for producing the next generation of engineers. It provides a novel approach and emphasizes on innovative teaching and learning method. The approach is specially designed for engineering and technical based programme. The framework provides students with an education stressing engineering fundamentals set in the context of Conceiving — Designing — Implementing — Operating real‐world systems and products. Throughout the world, CDIO Initiative collaborators have adopted CDIO as the framework of their curricular planning and outcome‐based assessment. CDIO collaborators recognize that an engineering education is acquired over a long period and in a variety of institutions, and that educators in all parts of this spectrum can learn from practice elsewhere. The CDIO network therefore welcomes members in a diverse range of institutions ranging from research‐led internationally acclaimed universities to local colleges dedicated to providing students with their initial grounding in engineering.”

Nor Hayati Saad is Associate Professor and Deputy Dean (Academic and Internationalization) at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam Malaysia. She involved in CDIO since year 2012; She was appointed as the UiTM CDIO Coordinator and CDIO Master Trainer since 2013. She and UiTM CDIO team have helped the university to obtain the CDIO international collaborator status in 2016. Her involvement in CDIO covers at national and international level. She and the team have organized many cascading workshop in Malaysia. She have been invited by Universiti Teknikal Malaysia, Polytechnics Malaysia and FPT Vietnam to train their staff in CDIO. Dr Nor Hayati Saad’s also actively involves in research. The main focused area includes precision manufacturing process and system particularly in process, design and development of micro sensors; operation management and quality management in tertiary education. She has published more than 100 papers in journal and international conference proceeding. At least 50 final year project undergraduate and 7 postgraduate students already graduated under her supervision.
